eHealth Connect® Diagnostic Image Exchange

Get the whole picture for every patient.

Your organization probably already shares certain types of records electronically.  But if it's only text-based, it only tells part of the story.  From oncology to cardiology to primary care, physicians need diagnostic images in order to make a full evaluation and prescribe proper treatment.

Until recently, sharing diagnostic images across a health information exchange was impractical because of storage, bandwidth and system performance issues.  Plus, the complexities of spanning multiple disparate PACS systems, managing content and access controls added to these challenges.  But eHealth Connect® Diagnostic Image Exchange from eHealth Global Technologies, Inc., has changed all of that.

Better patient care--Diagnostic quality images associated with both recent and historical exams are available online, to any authorized clinician who needs to see them along with the patient's medical record.  This allows medical professionals to provide faster diagnosis and treatment.

Lower cost, higher efficiency--Sharing images with eHealth Connect across community exchanges can dramatically reduce the costs of distributing diagnostic images using more traditional, less reliable approaches--when relied on patients and clinical staff to produce and transport CDs or films, or forced clinicians to log on to multiple disparate PACS web viewers.

Safe and sound--eHGT captures and securely transmits diagnostic images with almost no impact on PACS performance and rediology practice workflow, protecting PACS systems from unauthorized access by outside viewers.

Less exposure and huge savings--Sharing diagnostic images across community exchanges can dramatically lower the number of unnecessary repeated exams, potentially saving biollions of dollars.  Extra radiological exams also expose patients to additional radiation--and risk.  Diagnostic imaging could soon represent 10 percent of total health care costs.¹  With annual health care spending at $2.2 trillion in the U.S., that's $220 billion.

Trusted by HIE leaders--eHealth Connect Diagnostic Image Exchange is simple, cost-effective, and available now.  The nation's first community HIE to share images--Rochester RHIO, serving 1.2 million patients--uses eHealth Connect.  Elysium® Exchange from Axolotl corp., the most popular application used by HIEs to share clinical data, employs eHealth Connect to give customers the additional capability to share diagnostic images.

eHGT Technology – Designed To Be Simple and Secure

eHealth Global leverages the latest technology and its internal information technology expertise to provide the efficiency, connectivity, security, and ease-of-use required in today's healthcare environments. eHealth Global leverages existing standards in managing medical records to better protect your investment, and to allow us to connect to the wide variety of information systems and formats of data present in institutions today. These standards include:

  • HL7 (Health Level 7)
  • DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine)
  • PDF (Portable Document Format from Adobe)
  • JPEG, TIFF and other standard image formats

eHealth Global has two types of on-line systems to best deliver your medical information to you instantly. In addition to these systems, eHealth Global has the ability to transfer the collected medical information into your own internal systems, such as clinical information systems, EMRs, or PACs.

The leading-edge technology of eHealthViewer® allows the most secure and functional viewing of medical imaging and documents available today. Using a simple client on virtually any Windows computer, or Windows Mobile device, you can view full diagnostic quality medical imaging and medical documents, without ever actually loading the actual data on your computer. The eHealthViewer can access this information with incredible speed over most Internet bandwidths.

Clinical images can be viewed and manipulated similar to Radiology PACS (imaging) systems, such as applying window and level, zoom and pan, measurements, flip and rotate, and even multi-planar reformatting, 3D rendering, and real-time digital subtraction! Documents come up quickly and can be magnified to better visualize detail in the report.

The best part of the eHealthViewer is that it is easy to install, and easy to use. A simple and quick download and automated install from eHealth Global's website will give you access. The eHealthViewer is used for the eHealthAccess™ Record Retrieval Service, and eHealthConnect® Diagnostic Image Exchange services.

eHealthConnect® File Exchange allows all documents retrieved by eHealth Global utilizing its eHealthAccess™ Record Retrieval Service, to be delivered securely to a clinical customer.

After eHGT’s professional staff finishes collecting, organizing and digitizing the medical records for a patient, an email notification is sent to the requester, with a link to the records that eHGT retrieved. Once the requester clicks the link in the email, and authenticates themselves, they are brought directly to the website location where there documents are stored. The documents can then be easily extracted, and loaded into the internal digital environment of choice for that healthcare institution.

In addition, secure messages can be passed between eHGT staff and requestors through this same secure website.

eHealthConnect® File Exchange is utilized in eHGT’s eHealthAccess™ Record Retrieval Service.

DIRECT INTEGRATION TO PACS AND EMRS

eHGT has all the technical expertise and tools, including an enterprise HL7 integration engine and DICOM routing capabilities, to provide your organization with direct integration of documents via HL7 and images via DICOM connectivity. Now outside medical information can reside side-by-side with internally-generated healthcare data.

eHealth Access™ Record Retrieval Service

An industry first: What used to take weeks now happens in days.

eHealth Access™ Record Retrieval Service streamlines the way you obtain the clinical records you need so you can treat referred-in or new patients faster-in days instead of weeks.  With this user-friendly system, the first of its kind, you just submit a customized request online and eHealth Global Technologies collects and delivers all needed documents.  Reports. Labs. Diagnostic-quality images.  All delivered in a standard digital format-even directly into the hospital's EMR or PACS-typically within three days.  The service is simple to activate and can be put to use quickly.

  • See your patients in record time--At many hospitals, it can take three weeks or more to collect records and images.  With eHealth Access, the same information can be retrieved and delivered in a complete, ready-to-review, electronic patient file in three days.  Doctors get all the information they need right away to start evaluating and planning for treatment.  And patients avoid unnecessary duplicate tests and exams.
  • Peace of mind for patients--No more rescheduled appointments or long waits simply because of missing or incomplete records.  That makes for more satisfied patients, many of whom may have been referred to your institution because of a very serious illness.  Less anxiety is always a good thing.
  • A personal touch from your institution--eHealth Access can help foster a personal connection between patient and provider.  Large hospitals may be perceived as detached, even though they offer exceptional treatment options, outstanding staff and advanced technology.  When the doctor has fully reviewed the case file before the appointment, the patient feels respected as an individual.
  • Make life easier for your IT staff--Having new-patient records arrive in a consistent, digital format makes it easier to bring them into your records system.  And fast, complete record delivery means fewer calls for help in finding, sorting or retrieving historical files.
    • The secure online process for requesting outside records can be tied to your electronic scheduling system, making this task a seamless and integral part of your workflow.
    • eHGT has proven experience at delivering records directly into EMRs and PACS systems seamlessly.
