eHealth Global and HKS Team
Up To Connect Transplant Department
Patient Records with External
Data Through a Single Access
Point
DALLAS, TX April 21, 2008- eHealth
Global Technologies, Inc., the
industry-leading provider of
patient medical records management
services, and HKS Medical Information
Systems, Inc., the developer
of the OTTR Electronic Health
Record and Workflow Management
system, have entered into an
agreement to offer a fully integrated
solution that streamlines medical
record management for Transplant
departments. The announcement
was made today at the 16th Annual
United Network for Organ Sharing
(UNOS) Transplant Management
Forum in Dallas.
This agreement brings together
the OTTR (Organ Transplant Tracking
Record), a patient tracking
application and electronic health
record developed specifically
to meet the needs of organ transplant
centers, and eHealthConnect,
a medical record management
service that collects, digitizes,
organizes, secures and stores
outside patient records. The
eHealthConnect service will
be accessible from within the
OTTR system so that users will
have one user interface for
all referred patient medical
record requests. eHealth Global
will then retrieve, digitize
and upload the record directly
into the transplant center's
OTTR system. By encapsulating
a PDF in an HL7 message, users
can append existing patient
records with outside data for
a more complete electronic medical
record. Images can also be collected,
digitized and made available
for viewing securely via eHealth
Global's eHealthViewerTM from
within the OTTR application.
"eHealth Global is proud
to work with HKS and integrate
our unique medical record service
with the industry-leading OTTR
system," said Michael Margiotta,
CEO, eHealth Global Technologies,
"As a result of this agreement,
transplant departments will
now have one user interface
for a more complete patient
medical record management process
that can only positively impact
the patient care process."
eHealth Global's portfolio of
services are centered around
the collection, digitization
and access to medical records
and images on behalf of referred
patients to tertiary care facilities
and specialty clinics, and community-based
health networks with disparate
record management systems.
"OTTR is designed to meet
the real-time data needs of
transplant departments by improving
patient and record management,
and this agreement is the perfect
solution for bringing together
external, referred patient medical
records with the center's existing
data, " said Mary Cockerill,
President and CEO, HKS Medical
Information Systems.
